If you are a corporate employee or somehow connected with the private sector through business or channel partner employees, I am sure that you are going through the tough phase of your career. This might have an everyday question in your mind that what is next if I lose my job? How I will manage my personal and family expenses? Will I get a new job in this middle age? Are my work experience and education sufficient to get a new job? Would it be possible for me to demonstrate high energy, even if I get a new job? And finally, what if I have to sit at home without any job?
If you have such kinds of questions in your mind don’t feel alone. This is the biggest challenge of all the private sector employees nowadays.
Due to slowdown in the global market, most of the corporate employees between the age of thirty-five and forty-five are going through a tough phase of their career.
There is a specific reason why only this age category? When you reach this middle phase of career, neither you are senior management with high decision making nor in the category of junior, who is very less salary paid and high energy employee.
The Indian market also not untouched with these crises and we also have adopted western philosophy of higher and fire. When the business goes through tough finical phases, the best possible cost-cutting is manpower cost. For example, if organization want to save INR 10 million, it’s quite difficult to bring down the product cost, since row material cost, logistic, technology, utilities are fixed, but to save the same amount through manpower cutting is respectively easy. If an organization removes five employees of 2 million, cost recovers.
Anyway, these all are the business strategies and will continue according to the market situation. For us, the important point is how to over the challenge if someone loss his job?
My first and foremost point is, you would not be in the list of manpower cutting if you are made for the job. Yes, you read very correctly. If your personality, your behaviour, your skill, and knowledge matches with your job, you are safe. There are people who are made to do the job only.
Now the question is how you will know that, whether you are suitable for this job or not? Evaluate yourself and the below question to yourself.
  1. Do you feel that when you have started your job, you have taken this decision out of your chose or just to satisfy family society?
  2. Do you feel energetic when you wake up in the morning and think of the office?
  3. Do you feel that you wanted to do something, which profession doesn’t have money?
  4. If this profession was not your choice than what did you wanted to do?
  5. If someone credits your monthly budget in your bank account, would you like to do this job?
  6. What is there, which stopes me to do something else to earn?
These all the questions will give you the answer that what is there for which you have made. If you would have chosen that path in career, you wouldn’t have a job threat in your mind. You have reached this condition of job crises because you are not made to these all which you have chosen as a career and now suffering mid-career job challenge.
